Visa Fee for Nepal

Visa Information for Nepal: All visitors except the Indian nationals must hold passport and valid visa. Visitors from the remaining five SAARC countries (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Srilanka, Maldives, and Bhutan) and China will get Gratis visa, with no visa fee required. You can get a visa at the Nepalese Embassy or consulate or at the airport upon arrival. Two passport size photos are mandatory for all types of visa.

Tourist Visa: A visa is required to enter Nepal except for INDIAN Nationals. Visa can be obtained at the Nepalese diplomatic missions and consulates abroad. Visa is also issued at the entry points, including the international airport. Visa can be extended at the Department of Immigration, Bhrikutimandap (in front of the National Theatre), Kathmandu. Children under 10 years need not pay any visa fee.

Visa fee:

Tourist visa extension facility: Visa extension fee for the period of 15 days or less is US$ 30. For the period longer than 15 days is US$ 2 per day.

Visa can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a visa year (January to December) at the department on immigration.

Business Visa: This can be obtained from the department of immigration for the period of one year and five years upon the recommendation of the Ministry Of Industry And Commerce by paying US$ 100 and US$ 250, respectively.

Transit Visa: Transit visa for one day can be obtained from Nepal's immigration offices at the entry points upon the production of departure flight ticket via Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal, by paying US $ 5 or equivalent convertible currency.

Diplomatic Visa: a. Except in cases where a special order has been issued by Nepal government the diplomatic visa shall be issued to a person holding a diplomatic passport issued from any country and recommended from the concerned foreign diplomatic mission for the diplomatic visa, to a person considered fit to be granted diplomatic privileges by Nepal Government and the family members of such person holding the diplomatic passport. b. The diplomatic visa shall be issued on the basis of reciprocity; the term thereof may be extended at a time or from time to time for the term of the assignment in Nepal. c. An application for the diplomatic visa has to be made in the format as referred to in Appendix 1. Provided, however that the application as referred to in Appendix 1 is not required to be submitted if request or recommendation, accompanied by the details, is made by a foreign diplomatic mission or a body authorised therefor.

Residential Visa: 01.The following foreigners and their family intending to spend life in Nepal shall be granted the residential visa:

1. Persons with international reputation, 2. Persons capable of rendering outstanding contribution to the economic, social and cultural growth of Nepal , 3. Person, who has invested minimum one hundred thousand US dollars or convertible foreign currency equivalent thereto in industrial enterprise of Nepal at once. 4. Any foreigner intending to spend life in Nepal without carrying on any business.

02. The mission recommending for residential visa to the foreigner as mentioned in other clauses save the foreigner as mentioned in clause (d) of sub-rule (1) shall send the recommendation along with the application filled up by such foreigner to the Department through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

03. Any foreigner intending to obtain the residential visa under clause (e) of sub rule (1) has to submit a certified document of the source of income of 20 thousand American Dollars or convertible foreign currency to be spent in Nepal and any foreigner intending to renew has to submit a certificate showing that he will spend or has spent in Nepal at least the same amount at one time or at several times per year.

04. Any foreigner intending to obtain the residential visa has to submit to the Department or the concerned mission an application in the format as referred to in Appendix 4.

05. The format of the residential visa shall be as referred to in Appendix 4 (a).
