Volunteering in Nepal

Change Lives... Including Your Own..!!

Volunteering in NepalVolunteer opportunities are available in many parts of Nepal, in both rural and urban areas. We offer a wide variety of programs to suit your talents and passions. We are also able to work with you to design a unique program that meets your goals.

Our Mission: we strives to serve and enhance the relationship between the Nepalese people and volunteers who seek a heartfelt, life-changing experience. We are dedicated to arranging for volunteers to come to Nepal and be immersed in the culture. Through our placement of the volunteers into the homes of Nepalese families, where they share in the daily life of the average Nepalese while working in the community, we have found that the experience is life-altering and affirming for both the Nepalese and the volunteers

Nepal is also an under-developed country, with low rates of literacy, high rates of poverty and a persistent gender imbalance. The government is frequently unable to provide sufficient or adequate education and health facilities in rural areas, and those in urban areas are poorly resourced. we seeks to address these issues of literacy, poverty and gender imbalance. By working in partnership with Nepali communities, we ensures that the progress made is sustainable.

Four Brothers Adventure Travel  co-ordinates construction, health and education projects throughout economically poor areas of Nepal. These projects provide opportunities for national and international volunteers to assist in the development of Nepal. we also runs a cultural exchange program, Nepali language and cultural classes and a home stay program in Nepal.

Volunteer in Health Program in Nepal

Four Brothers Adventure Travel  welcomes all interested experienced medical and health personnel, including students, professionals, organizations, associations and other groups to join the Health Program. Health Program volunteers will be involved in one or more of the following programs:

Working in Health Institutions in Nepal: Most of the health institutions in rural areas in Nepal do not have trained and experienced medical personnel, instead relying on the services of untrained and inexperienced medical personnel. In this program, trained and experienced health volunteers will be assigned to sub-health posts, hospitals, and other health institutions, either being run by the government or a local community, in rural or urban settings. Placement of volunteers in these health institutions will increase the capacity of Nepali health workers to provide better medical facilities when doctors and experienced medical personnel are not available. Volunteers will work alongside doctors, nurses and other health workers, providing training to untrained and/or inexperienced personnel. Volunteers will be assisted by a Nepali translator, increasing the transfer of knowledge between the volunteer and Nepali health workers. Volunteers will work for 5-6hours each day, 6 days a week.

Organizing Health Camp: During their time working in a health institution, trained and experienced health volunteers will be deployed to work in health camps for between two and five days. Volunteers will work alongside their Nepali counterparts to examine patients, distribute medicine and consult with communities about sanitation and health care. Volunteers’ participation in health camps will raises local awareness of health and sanitation in rural communities.

Health and sanitation awareness: In this program, volunteers will mainly be involved in working with the youth clubs, women's groups, and other local organizations, teaching them about proper health and sanitation. In addition, volunteers will provide First-Aid information to the local people in rural villages, thereby providing them with a practical and sustainable life-skill. Volunteers will also give similar First Aid courses to children in government schools, lasting from several days to a week in duration. The volunteers’ major role in this program is to educate and mobilize community groups who can then pass the information onto the community at large. This program is particularly suitable for medical students and volunteers with health training experience however we do accept other applicants, provided they have some experience in this area.

Four Brothers Adventure Travel  encourages all interested experienced medical and health personnel, including students, professionals, organizations, associations and other groups to join the Health Program and make a lasting contribution towards supporting needy Nepali people.

Volunteer in Disable & Rehabilitation Center in Nepal

Most of the disabled individuals in Nepal are ignored, neglected and forced to live in dark rooms, because most of the family members of disabled individuals feel shame at having lost the prestige due to them in the community. As a result, they are dying in the same room or bed where they were born. Some of their families members may also make them beg on the streets. In these ways the individuals are losing their human rights. we provides volunteering opportunity in Nepal to interested volunteers from all over the world a chance to provide great support to the disabled children in Nepal. we has been closely working with care facilities in and outside Kathmandu Valley who have specialized in caring for these children. Volunteers stay with a local family, while spending 6 hours a day at the facility. Volunteers typically assist caregivers, and provide more education on care methods where necessary. Volunteers also work with the children to provide assistance with therapy, activity preparation, education on basic health and sanitation, academic assistance, and general care. You can also help to plan activities and outings for sightseeing, picnics, cultural sharing, reading stories and promoting a love of reading, conversational English with the children, helping the children with their homework assignments etc. depending on the children’s abilities. Based on experience and skills volunteers may provide vocational Training, income Generating Programme and Recreational Activities-Audio-Visual aids, play, music and games.

Assisting at Orphanage Homes: In this program volunteers will be placed in an orphanage. Some placements allow the volunteer to live within the orphanage, however, volunteers can also choose to be placed with our local host family located within a walk-able distance from the orphanage home. As well as being very rewarding, these placements can be physically and emotionally demanding. Your role as an Orphanage Volunteer is to be a big brother or sister to the children. What you will be doing will vary in each orphanage. You may be required to help in other ways besides simply working with the children - for example helping with medical visits, cleaning, paper recycling, gardening, teaching the house mothers how to properly clean, doing repairs, mending clothing, planning activities for after they return from school and perhaps preparing meals. Once the children return from school, your role will be to assist and encourage them with their homework as well as play with them. Teaching English may be a big focus as you will not be able to teach common subjects such as Maths or Science with the language barrier. You could help the children in other areas - basic hygiene for example, like regular teeth brushing and hand washing. Games, songs and other activities will be extremely popular with the children. Some of the older children may be encouraged to develop skills that may help them in later life such as paper making, sewing or maintenance work. These may be future skills that could help them to become self-sufficient as adults. We have ten Orphanage homes in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan & more.

Volunteer in Teaching Program in Nepal

Teaching English in Nepal: Schools in Nepal often lack appropriate funding and resour-ces to adequately teach child-ren. As English is an international language, it is becoming more and more of a required skill for job placement, educational adv-ancement and future success. Many classes are delivered in English by Nepali teachers, who frequently have only a basic knowledge of English themselves. Therefore, there is limited opportunity for Nepali students to expand their knowledge and use of the English language without direct contact with a teacher fluent in English. In this program volunteers participate in teaching activities in Nepali schools by delivering conversational English and reading classes to Nepali children. To teach English at a Nepali school you don't need to have formal teaching qualifications. You will need a good command of written and spoken English, plenty of enthusiasm and a lot of patience.

Four Brothers Adventure Travel  also provides teaching opportunities in Nepal, for volunteers who are interested to teach subjects such as mathematics, environmental science, pure science, international history, computer science, art, music, sports, P.E. and other vocational subjects.

Teaching at the Monastery: As a volunteer in Four Brothers Adventure Travel  Monk teaching project, you will primarily work as English instructors in the schools of Tibetan Children's Village. You will teach English to Tibetan kids for 3-4 hours a day. In addition to English teaching, volunteers will assist in other school extra curricular activities and administration. In the evening, you can organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities.

Morning and late evening time is free. If you love Buddhism, this is the perfect time to join meditation, rituals, prays, and songs with the Buddhist monks. This project gives perfect opportunities to immerse in Buddhist religion and lifestyle.

Community building and school contraction projects

This is an opportunity to help in a wide range of practical village-based projects. This is a nice project for the group volunteers from School or University. These projects could be as basic as painting or plastering, however, those with additional skills may be able to help in more advanced work. Projects are usually decided upon in consultation with local communities, but you can use your initiative to suggest projects of your own. It is vital to be sensitive to the needs and wishes of the local community. Projects are usually partly funded by the communities and partly by our partner organization and/or volunteer contributions. You'll work with other volunteers in small groups, usually with minimal supervision. Often you'll also work alongside villagers, learning about traditional methods of building and working. Example projects include school repair and decoration; toilet building; drinking water projects; road drainage projects; recycling projects; stove building; and construction work on our local partner organization's own Children's home.

Environmental & Sanitation Awareness: These education projects are conducted at a very basic level, introducing the villagers to concepts and creative activities of Environmental Awareness and personal hygiene. Volunteers may also provide assistance to youth clubs or women's groups in the community sharing their ideas, skills and knowledge about environmental issues. Example projects include: creating "green" clubs, planting a flower garden, planting trees, garbage management, recycling programs, making a smokeless stove, building a toilet pit, etc. Volunteer's experience.

Working in Agricultural Fields: In this program volunteer will be staying with a local host family and help in their dally house work 5 days in a week.

Agriculture is one of the oldest occupations in Nepal and approximately 90% of our population works in this sector. There was a major breakthrough in agricultural production in the 1960's with the introduction of the new agricultural technology based on the high yielding variety of crops. The success of Nepalese agriculture, however, lies in the successful transfer of this new technology to the fields. Agricultural Sciences and allied fields are continually developing and changing as new knowledge is gained through research and new technology revolutionizes working methods. The fields allied to agriculture cover areas like horticulture, animal husbandry and veterinary sciences, dairy science, sericulture, fisheries and forestry, seed collection and distribution, erosion and flood control etc. Horticulture involves doing research work on plants and is a much-applied field. It is a science that includes floriculture or cultivation of flowers. In agriculture the volunteer has to be actively involved in planting, harvesting, marketing and other aspects of fieldwork.
